Event Description
The Baltic Way was a key event in modern Lithuanian history. On August 23, 1989, people from Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia joined hands across their countries, showing their desire for freedom from Soviet rule. This year, we celebrate the 35th anniversary of that day.
Come to Maggie Daley Park in Chicago on August 25, 2024, from 2 PM to 3 PM to honor this event and the 85th anniversary of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact. Signed in 1939, this pact led to the Soviet occupation of the Baltic states, making the Baltic Way a strong symbol of resistance and unity.
Summary
The event will have speeches from community leaders, historical reflections, and a moment of unity to honor the spirit of the Baltic Way. This gathering will remind us all of the importance of freedom and unity.
Join us to celebrate this historical milestone and support freedom and independence. (Baltic Way Commemoration in Chicago 2024)
