Camp 2024 ends with recognizing achievements and a call to action for future involvement.

Švyturys Camp 2024 has come to an end after a week of bringing together Lithuanian youth from across the United States. This first-ever camp has impacted everyone involved, strengthening their connection to Lithuanian culture and helping them learn valuable skills.

A Week of Growth and Connection

The camp began with eager participants ready for a week of learning, friendship, and cultural experiences. From the start, the goal was to create a space where Lithuanian-American youth could explore their heritage, develop new skills, and build lasting friendships.

Throughout the week, campers participated in a variety of activities focused on cultural education and personal growth. Each day brought new experiences, from learning traditional Lithuanian songs and stories to learning essential survival skills. The camp’s structured schedule, led by experienced instructors, kept the participants engaged and constantly learning.

The camp’s success was clear in the knowledge and skills the campers gained and the strong sense of community that developed. The bonds formed between the campers, their instructors, and the organizers will continue to support them in the future.

Medals and Honors

One of the key moments of the camp’s closing was recognizing the outstanding contributions of participants and staff. The final ceremony wasn’t just about saying goodbye—it was a celebration of the Lithuanian National Guard’s achievements, dedication, and shared commitment to its values.

Awards and Certificates for Camp Participants

During the closing ceremony, each camper received a certificate of participation. These were presented by Sandra Vasiliauskienė, the Camp Project Leader and Head of the Civic Education Department of the Lithuanian National Guard, and Gintautas Vasilevskis, the Advisor to the Head of the Lithuanian National Guard. These certificates recognized the campers’ hard work and dedication throughout the week.

In addition to certificates, campers received unique emblems created just for the camp. These emblems featured an eagle symbolizing the United States, with wings and a body reflecting the colors of the Lithuanian flag. The camp’s name, “Švyturys,” was proudly displayed on the emblem as a lasting reminder of their time there.

Participants were also given an informational leaflet titled “Join the Lithuanian National Guard,” which explained how to become a member of this historic organization. The leaflet and the camp’s logo were created in partnership with the Lithuanian National Guard, reinforcing the connection between the camp and the broader mission of promoting Lithuanian values.
